Forwards To The Past

Out late tonight, having gone right from work downtown to the Shakespeare Theatre Company. It seems like every movie is in 3D nowadays. Before Toy Story 3, every preview except Secretariat was for something in 3D. The third Harold & Kumar movie is going to be in 3D. The 3D live action stuff in Avatar was incredible, but I realized tonight, sitting in the front row for a Shaw-penned comedy, that all of this 3D is trying to capture the experience of seeing actors live in front of you. Theater is the original 3D movie.
